Bangunan ini terletak di kota lama Semarang yang berjejer dengan bangunan lama masa kolonial Belanda. Gereja Blenduk adalah gereja tertua di Jawa Tengah yang menjadi bangunan bersejarah sarat dengan benda-benda berusia lebih dari 200 tahun.. Gereja Protestan Indonesia Barat (GPIB) Immanuel Semarang tersebut berada di Jalan Letjen Suprapto Nomor 32 Semarang, tepatnya berada di kasawan Kota Lama Semarang.. Pada tahun 1705, kawasan tersebut sempat menjadi pusat Pemerintahaan Kolonial SEMARANGBARAT, AYOSEMARANG.COM -- Ibadah misa Natal di Gereja Bongsari dilaksanakan secara sederhana di tahun ini. Gereja Blenduk Semarang merupakan gereja yang dibangun pada 1753 ini merupakan salah satu landmark di kota lama. Berbeda dari bangunan lain di Kota Lama yang pada umumnya memagari jalan dan tidak menonjolkan bentuk, gedung yang bergaya Neo-Klasik ini justru tampil kontras. Bentuknya lebih menonjol . Lokasi bangunan ini berada di Jalan Letjend Suprapto No 32 Kota Lama Semarang dan bernama Gereja GPIB Immanuel. Bangunan gereja yang sekarang merupakan bangunan setangkup dengan facade tunggal yang secara vertikal terbagi atas tiga bagian. Jumlah lantainya adalah dua buah. Bangunan ini menghadap ke Selatan. Gereja ini masih dipergunakan untuk peribadatan setiap hari Minggu. Di sekitar gereja ini juga terdapat sejumlah bangunan lain dari masa kolonial Belanda seperti Gedung Marba. It was really a good experience. The church still keep everything as original and everything was well service we took the interior picture and then frlm outdoor as well. This is a really beautiful church. The location is at Kota Lama, a heritage area in Semarang. It has a unique architect with round beautiful roof, maybe thats why it was called Blenduk means something round and puff I am sorry if wrong. This church still opens for sunday services under GPIB Protestan Denomination and its name now is Immanuel Church, although people still call this church Gereja Blenduk. Outer appearance is so beautiful in white while the round roof is red brick. Inside also so beautiful in the retro desain including the big orgel upstair. The sad news is that this historical church really need a renovation soon because of brittleness. It is Javanese word but the original name is Immanuel Church and was built by the Dutch people in the mid of 18th Century. This building is very iconic and you may go inside . As such, there’s not much for a tourist to see. The gentleman inside let my wife and I look around, and I took a few pictures. It is a Protestant church, apparently from the Dutch Reformed tradition. It has a magnificent pipe organ, which I hope to hear some day. I have heard that it is the oldest Christian church in Indonesia. It stands out more as a piece of architecture than a place of worship, and I’m guessing that 90% of the people who visit do so only to take pictures outside. The iconic red roof has been put at arrival hall of the airport too. The church is only for services in certain time and most of time it is closed.
